Press brake bend calculator

Based on our 200 t Morgan Rushworth PBXS (3,100 mm bed) with Amada tooling. Pick your material, thickness and V-die to get the flat blank length, inside radius, minimum flange and bending force, with a dimensioned sketch.

Guide figures only. A 2D check of the cross-section only, based on Amada standard tooling on our 200 t Morgan Rushworth PBXS. Ask us to confirm before ordering.

How it works. Figures are for our 200 t Morgan Rushworth PBXS press brake (3,100 mm bed) with Amada standard tooling. V-die openings, inside radius (ir), minimum flange length (b) and force per metre are taken from Amada's published air bending force chart for 90° air bending (mild steel Rm ≈ 450 N/mm², stainless Rm ≈ 700 N/mm²). Recommended V follows Amada's rule: 6t up to 3 mm, 8t for 3 to 8 mm, 10t for 8 to 12 mm, 12t above. Following Amada's guidance, other materials use the mild steel chart multiplied by Rm/450 (S355 at 550 N/mm², aluminium 5083-O at 310 N/mm², and aluminium 1050A-H14 at 145 N/mm², the top of the EN 485-2 range of 105 to 145 N/mm²). Bend allowance uses the K-factor from DIN 6935, k = 0.65 + 0.5·log(ir/t), with K = k/2; flange lengths A and B are outside dimensions to the virtual sharp. The multi-bend collision check is a 2D cross-section check at the bottom of the stroke, using punch and die outlines taken from Amada’s published tooling catalogue, and treating the tool holder and upper beam as a block above the punch.
